Memoirs of Lee Kuan Yew (Volume 1 & 2 Memorial Edition)

Author: Lee Kuan Yew

Format: Hardback with Jacket (slipcase)

Publication date: May 2015

Mr Lee Kuan Yew passed away on 23 March 2015. This special collection brings together the first two volumes of his memoirs: The Singapore Story and From Third World to First. These memoirs are the only works that he penned in his own hand.
In The Singapore Story, Lee recounts in intimate detail the battles against colonialists, communists and communalists that led to Singapore’s independence.
From Third World to First details the extraordinary efforts it took for an island city-state in Southeast Asia to survive, with just a “razor’s edge” to manoeuvre in, as Albert Winsemius, Singapore’s economic advisor in the 1960s,
put it.

Mr Lee Kuan Yew had worked together with the pioneering generation of Chinese leaders in opening the gate for the friendly cooperation between China and Singapore. His contributions to the China-Singapore relationship and China’s reform and opening up will surely be marked by history.”

A far-sighted statesman and a lion among leaders, Mr Lee Kuan Yew's life teaches valuable lessons to everyone. News of his demise is saddening.”

Lady Thatcher once said that there was no Prime Minister she admired more than Mr Lee for ‘the strength of his convictions, the clarity of his views, the directness of his speech and his vision of the way ahead’. His place in history is assured, as a leader and as one of the modern world’s foremost statesmen”
